Depois de Airlie Beach e das ilhas Whitsunday, fomos mais para norte, ainda em Queensland. Ficamos em Cairns um dia somente para fazer um passeio pela floresta tropical, a Daintree Rainforest. Este passeio foi previamente marcado pela nossa agencia de viagens (que recomendamos)
Trailfinders e foi, definitivamente, o nosso passeio preferido destas férias.
Comecamos por visitar uma quinta de crocodilos, a "Harvey's Crocodile Farm". Entre os muitos crocodilos residentes, havia o Paul (a almocar na foto 1) e a Debbie (a nadar na foto 2) - muito simpáticos se mantidos a distancia, mas também vimos Koalas, cobras e pássaros. Foi muito interessante (a minha parte favorita foi fazer um mini-cruzeiro pelo lago e tentar descobrir onde é que os crocodilos estavam "escondidos", pois eles sao mestres na arte de camuflagem), aprendemos muito acerca destas "criaturas" e o almoco foi excelente (entre outras coisas, comemos crocodilo - que nao tem grande sabor, e kangaroo, que até nem era mau).
After Airlie Beach & Whitsunday Islands, we went to the north of Queensland. We staied in Cairns just for one day with the sole purpose of doing the Daintree Rainforest tour (previously booked by our travel agency Trailfinders which we recomend), whish turned out to be our favourite tour in this holiday. We started by visiting a crocodile farm, the "Harvey's Crocodile Farm". Amongst the many crocodiles there were Paul (having lunch on photo 1) and Debbie (swimming on photo 2) - very nice if kept at a distance, but we also saw Koalas, snakes and birds. It was very interesting (my favourite part was the mini-cruise in the lake where I tried to see where the crocodiles were hiding - they are very good at it), we learned a lot about these "creatures" and lunch was excelent (among other things, we had crocodile - a bit tasteless, and kangaroo, which wasn't too bad).
Depois de alomoco, fomos ver a floresta tropical no "skyrail", o que foi fantástico, e tivémos uma visita guiada. Sabiam que existe uma árvore que se chama "Figueira estranguladora"? Comeca a crescer no topo de uma árvore qualquer quando um pássaro deixa cair aí as suas sementes por acidente. Comeca entao a crescer encima dessa árvore e a estrangulá-la. Nós vimos algumas,, enormes, muito velhilhas, já ocas por dentro depois da árvore original já ter morrido, que eram usadas pelos aborígenes como abrigo quando chovia. Adorei todas as árvores (ás vezes enormes, mas sempre lindíssimas) e os sons da floresta tropical...
After that we went on the skyrail over the rainforest, which was amazing, and a guided tour in the forest. Did you that there is a tree called "Strangling Fig Tree"? It starts growing on top of another tree when a bird drops its seeds accidently and grows down the tree to the ground. While it does that, it strangles the tree inside it. We saw some Strangling Fig Trees, some very old, hollow inside (after the original tree dies and decayed) and that were used as shelter by the aboroginal people. I loved all the (beautiful and sometimes huge) trees the sounds of the rainforest...
Foi simplesmente maravilhoso...
It was simply wonderful...
